Longtime member recognized for participation, generosity, friendship, and commitment to The Turn community
The Turn has named Don Sedlak its 2026 Player of the Year, recognizing a longtime member whose involvement and support exemplify the organization’s mission to create opportunities, connections, and community for people with disabilities.
A member of The Turn family since 2017, Don Seklak enjoyed golf occasionally before becoming disabled. Since joining The Turn, however, the game has taken on a much greater role in his life.
Through golf, Don has not only developed a greater love for the game but also formed lasting friendships. Today, he regularly plays with friends met through The Turn as well as others outside the program.
But the Player of the Year Award recognizes much more than accomplishments or participation on the golf course.
Don is an active participant in many of The Turn’s programs, including yoga, fitness activities and social events such as bocce ball. He also consistently supports the organization by attending events, donating raffle baskets, making financial contributions, and encouraging fellow members.
Perhaps most significant is the positive impact Don has had on the people around him. Known for a kind word, an encouraging attitude and a willingness to support others, Don has earned the affection and respect of members, volunteers and staff throughout The Turn community.
The recognition reflects the broader purpose behind The Turn’s programs. While golf remains an important part of the organization, its mission extends well beyond the course by helping people stay active, develop friendships, build connections, and become part of a supportive community.
Through participation, generosity, friendship, and kindness, Don demonstrates those values and the spirit of The Turn.
